ArtistSylvia R. Miller

The Artist has dedicated no less than 40 years to daily painting and learning

Her tenacious desire to work with and learn oils, watercolors and pastels has extended and exhibited itself through constantly testing and enjoying each aspect of her artistic creativity.  She has a freedom of colors that expresses itself in warm, earthy renditions

In these pages, are several works from the earliest years in London, England to present day works being produced in Greenwich, CT

Always enriched by ever changing studio environments, she began formalizing her learning in London in 1959 under the direction of John Wynn Morgan.  Working out of the lower floor of his private house with 20 artists, she began learning how to apply paint to the canvas and had Mr. Wynn Morgan's assistant Wendy her would model often with painting, scraping and repainting being done to conserve on the cost of canvas materials:

She has committed herself to years at the Art Student League under the direction of world renowned teachers and colleagues concentrating on formal portraiture and capturing figures with a constant desire to improve her skills at drawing:

Subsequently she studied figure and still life's at the Art Student League with a continuous stimulus utilizing the Greenwich Art Center and The Riley League to stimulate her passion.  Always in search of new and refreshing subject matter

Recently she has become enthralled with producing still lifes, figures and pastel portraits with a plethora of personalities, nationalities and depiction of character
